Why having good communication skills is important in the field of engineering?
“Employers identify communication as one of the basic competencies every graduate should have, asserting that the ability to communicate is valuable for obtaining employment and maintaining successful job performance.”
Sherwyn Morreale, Michael Osborn & Judy Pearson,
Professors of Communication (2000)
This quote made by professors emphasizes the critical role having good communication skills play a part in securing a job for engineers. Employers value communication skills as it displays your ability to work as a team and meeting objectives. These skills will increase overall productivity and efficiency, and eliminating risks and errors at the same time. The ability to communicate as a team also allows you to convey difficult and complex project ideas to those who do not have a technical background. Thus, strong communication skills play a vital part for engineers to work efficiently, avoids mistakes, and achieve desired outcomes in their field of work.
I agree with the points mentioned as it is closely similar to mine
ReplyDeleteThank you, Treven for this post of the insightful interpretation.
ReplyDeleteRemember in class how we discussed parallel structure. You have one set of items that should be parallel but are not. Do you see where?
Thank you for the input Prof Blackstone! Upon rereading my post, I can see now that my final sentence is missing parallel structure. It should be changed to "Thus, effective communication is vital for engineers to work efficiently, avoid mistakes, and achieve desired outcomes in their field."
